Hypertension (HTN)- new classifications

A lower threshold and a reclassification of HTN.
Previous guidelines identified high blood pressure (BP) as ≥ 140/90 mm Hg. The new guidelines now define high BP to be anyone with a systolic blood pressure (SBP) ≥ 130 mmHg or diastolic blood pressure (DBP) ≥ 80 mmHg.
The change will mean more patients are diagnosed with hypertension and the majority of these patients will be recommended to lose weight, if needed, and healthy lifestyle changes.
